Huawei launches smart glasses together with Gentle Moster
At the P30 launch in Paris, Huawei reserved a surprise for the end of the keynote: a Bluetooth headset that looks like a pair of sunglasses.
They are called Smart Eyewear, the smart glasses produced together with Korean giant Gentle Moster. A real revolution for the wearables market, these smart glasses allow you to answer calls and talk directly from the frame, without necessarily having to use your smartphone. The Huawei Smart Eyewear, in fact, were announced as replacements for earbuds, to be used to converse on the phone as spontaneously and comfortably as possible via the two speakers positioned above the ears. The body, which is capable of tap recognition, houses an antenna, dual microphones, and a charging chip that allows for NFC charging simply by inserting them into the dedicated case. A definitely innovative element is the absence of buttons; in fact, to answer a call it will be enough to touch the device’s shaft.
Huawei has decided not to include any cameras on the Smart Eyewear to nip any privacy debate in the bud. The glasses arrive in a leather case equipped with USB-C input, but they also have wireless charging.
This new accessory also has IP67 certification, which guarantees water resistance. This allows adaptation to rainy days.
The arrival on the market of the first glasses resulting from this collaboration between the two companies is expected from July 2019, at a price, however, not yet known. Huawei’s intentions regarding a possible arrival of the wearable in Italy also remain to be understood.
